Early exposure to the fishing life laid the foundation for his future career and lifestyle. Today, he serves as the daily manager at Egersund Danmark and continues to live in Thyborøn with his wife, where they raised their three daughters.
A Close Connection to the Fishing Industry
At just 13 years old, Søren Peter began working at Arnes Trawl and soon after became an apprentice in trawlbinding. His connection to the industry only grew stronger over the years.
"I've always been closely connected to the fishing industry; it was a natural path for me," he says.
It Started at Thyborøn Trawlbinderi
In 2018, the Egersund Group bought Thyborøn Trawlbinderi, a company founded a few years earlier by a local fisherman. Today, the company has become Denmark's most modern trawlbindery, focusing on technological advancements to optimize trawling.
"When my colleague and I were offered jobs at Thyborøn Trawlbinderi, we said yes almost immediately. It was time for new challenges, and we were given a lot of responsibility," Søren Peter recalls.
Life as a Daily Manager
As the daily manager at the company, Søren Peter oversees the company's operations, managing daily tasks, handling purchases, and coordinating various activities. Søren Peter also notes the importance of collaboration in this kind of role. He appreciates the strong cooperation between the Danish branches in Hvide Sande, Thyborøn, and Hanstholm. "We help each other when needed, and it works well," he says.
Looking ahead, Søren Peter has clear objectives. He aims to retain existing customers while expanding into new markets, particularly outside Denmark. "We have a lot of experience with Danish seine fishing, and it's something we can offer to customers abroad, especially in Norway," he explains.
More Than Just a Job
For Søren Peter, the job is more than just work. "I like to keep track of where the ships are, even when I'm off duty," he says. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and staying active through spinning and gymnastics.
When asked about the best advice he's received, he shares, "Treat others as you would like to be treated." This simple yet profound principle guides his work ethic and his role within the company.
